What farming conferences are worth attending?
Depends on your lane. Specialty-crop growers swear by the winter grower conferences; the organic and sustainable circuit has decades-old gatherings with deep workshop tracks; the open-technology community holds working gatherings where things get built, not just discussed. The cards say what each event is actually like, which matters more than the name.
When do farm conferences usually happen?
Winter, mostly. Growing seasons rule the calendar, so the big learning events cluster from November through February when growers can actually leave the farm. Field days and on-farm events flip that and run in season. Each card here lists the usual month, so you can rough out a year before any dates are announced.
Are grower conferences expensive?
The range is wide: field days are often free, state grower conferences commonly run modest registration fees that early-bird pricing cuts further, and scholarships for beginning farmers are more common than people think. If cost is the barrier, ask the organizer; most of these events exist to get knowledge moving, not to make money.
