Before you drive out. Farms that host visitors run on the crop and the weather. Ripe dates move by a week or two from year to year, and many farms post what is open that morning. Check before you go, bring cash for the stand, and ask whether coolers, pets and strollers are welcome.
Worth asking before you go:
What is ripe this week, and is picking open today? Is there an entry fee or a minimum purchase? Are the fields and paths easy with a stroller or a wheelchair? If you run a farm the public visits. Weather, coolers, and knowing what is happening on the place when you are busy with guests.
From the Resource Library. Welcoming the public to a farm is a business of its own. These shelves help.
